Main Bathroom
The layout of the main bathroom changed. Can you tell us about how you created this new floorplan?
When beginning with the main bathroom in this Vaucluse house, we realised that the existing layout of the bathroom simply wasn’t suited to what the family required. To solve this, we started by considering what the family’s needs were, and then assessed how we might fit this into a new layout. Once this was decided, we realised that it may be best to divide the space into two sections, using two nib walls to create a seamless transition from a wet space with a bath and two shower roses, into a vanity space designed for the family’s everyday needs.
Can you tell us about your colour choices?
The colour palette we opted for in this bathroom took a great deal of inspiration from the location of the house. Being in the beautiful coastal suburb of Vaucluse, we wanted the bathroom to benefit from an ocean vibe, so we decided to bring in some nice shades of blue to reflect this. To further this colour scheme, we introduced the “Neu” tapware range in a lovely brushed nickel finish. We decided to go with that to match the Timberline vanity and the nice light timber finish of the drawers.
Master Ensuite Bathroom
What was the brief for the master ensuite bathroom?
For the Master bedroom’s ensuite, the brief and vision was to create something more luxurious using black and white throughout. This was a challenge that we relished, and the way that we approached this brief was in quite a literal manner. We aimed to showcase a beautiful black and white floor in marble with a hexagonal shape. This is the hero piece of the room, and everything else complements it. All aspects and features from the black vanity, the beautiful marble walls, the marble tops, and the chrome tapware work together to showcase the luxurious vision for this bathroom.
Daughters Ensuite
The Daughter’s ensuite stands out from the rest of the spaces within the house more than the others. Can you tell us about your approach to this renovation?
When renovating this bathroom, inspiration was taken from this ensuite being the daughters and the look she was wanting to achieve. From here, we decided to bring in some lovely pink tones in the beautiful penny round on 2 of the bathroom walls.
We introduced an arched shaving cabinet to complement the round features throughout the room, including the rounded tapware, the rounded basin, as well as the round shower rose. We implemented gold matte tapware to compliment the pink tones throughout the bathroom.
Bathroom 4
Tell us about the reasons behind the design choices in the fourth bathroom.
In the fourth bathroom, we found the space to hold a masculine feel, so we decided to continue this theme and incorporate a sense of ruggedness into our design choices. In order to do this, we brought in some darker timber in the vanity, a beautiful stone top in the vanity top, and went for a darker feature tile in herringbone. We wanted to ensure that all of the features are subtle, whilst providing that hint of a masculine feel. We’ve also incorporated a twin shower in the shower area, a shaving mirror on the wall, and cornered glass shelving to elevate the space.
Downstairs Bathroom
What aspects were important to consider for the downstairs bathroom?
When it came to deciding which elements and fixtures would best suit the space, it was important to consider that the bathroom had to service quite a few functions. While downstairs bathrooms can often be used the least of all bathrooms, we were tasked with updating a space that services the pool outside, as well as the family dog that does come in and out of the room quite a lot, sleeping in there too.
Due to the areas this bathroom services and the way it is used, we needed the floor to be more of a neutral tone so that it did not pick up too much dirt. However, we also wanted to ensure we created a space where guests could also come in and enjoy a calming environment, and we feel we’ve achieved that.
Understairs Toilet
The understairs toilet are is very small, and seemed quite a challenge. Can you give some insight into how you created such a unique space?
So, what do you do when you have the tiniest, tiniest understairs toilet area with no window? Do you paint it all white to make more light come in? In this case, we went a little against the grain, and instead, we made this understairs toilet quite dark, utilising a really bespoke black wallpaper with pineapple patterns. We did this because in many cases, making a space quite dark can actually make it feel and appear larger. The ceiling light allowed us to add a little bit of extra glamour and a luxurious feel to this bathroom.
The six bathrooms share a visual identity, but each has their own personality. How did you achieve this?
While the bathrooms share a common design language, we also wanted to give each one its own personality. To do this, we incorporated unique elements such as different colourings, tile patterns, varying sizes and shapes of mirrors, and distinct lighting fixtures. We also paid close attention to the specific needs and preferences of each bathroom user, incorporating personalised touches such as custom storage solutions and specific hardware selections, ensuring we quality designs were complemented by functional inclusions fit for everyday use. By striking a balance between consistency and individuality, we were able to create six distinct, yet harmonious bathrooms that complemented the overall aesthetic of the home.
